I used to work for Kyodo News Agency, the biggest news service in Japan, 49 years. Making sentences as simple and easy to understand as possible is my stock-in-trade. It's like a piece of cake teaching you how to communicate with native Japanese by short sentences. Writing skills are a foundation on which you can build up your speaking skills, so what I do for lessons is describing things around you in Japanese by using basic verbs and nouns like わたしは ばなな が だいすき です, which means I love banana very much. You know what? Even Japanese language, simple is the best way to express yourself. So let's learn Japanese that way! I bet you will see how helpful it is to make you a good Japanese speaker!!
My lessons & teaching style
Once a week, an hour. If you want, two hours could be okay. If you are a beginner, I will use English with Japanese explanation. If your Japanese is like intermediate or higher, more likely free talking must be better. It depends on what your levels are.
