My name is Riina. I'm originally from Helsinki, Finland, but the past few years I've been living in Tallinn, Estonia. I teach Finnish as well as English. In addition to that, I'm studying law at university. In my free time I enjoy playing the piano, flute and accordion. I also like hiking and travelling, be it in Estonia or Finland or abroad. Of course, I'm also always interested to hear about other people's interests, so I'm sure we will find plenty to discuss about during the lessons!
My lessons & teaching style
I will tailor the Finnish classes according to each student's needs. So, in that sense, there are many options! Among some things that my lessons usually entail:
-Reading texts with key words vocabularies
-Listening exercises with key words vocabularies
-Discussion exercises of mixed topics as well as of the texts and listening exercises
-Checking homework (if there have been any)
I will create a Google Docs document for each student and all the lesson notes and materials can be found from there, so you can access your file anytime you want to review the things that we have studied during the lessons. This also helps with keeping the things organised.
The bottom line is that the lessons will be tailored so that they can fit to each student's needs, and therefore correspond with the desired level and goals. The language of instruction can be English, Estonian or Spanish. But, of course, if you're looking for a mainly conversational approach or are a more advanced student, then we could even solely speak in Finnish as well!
I have experience of tutoring for YKI and I'm happy to help with that as well, if you're looking for a tutor to practice for the test.
I'm sorry for any inconvenience, but I do not teach children under 7 years old.
