Hello! I’m Penelope, an English teacher from Cape Town, South Africa. I’m friendly, patient, and dedicated to helping you reach your language goals with lessons that feel meaningful, practical, and enjoyable.

If you want to speak more naturally in daily life, I offer relaxed and engaging conversation lessons that focus on fluency, listening skills, and building confidence. We’ll explore interesting topics based on your interests and goals.
🎓 My Qualifications
I hold a 300-hour TEFL Diploma with a specialisation in Business English from the i-to-i TEFL Institute of Language. I also have:
a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences (University of Natal)
a Teaching Diploma in Environmental Education (Rhodes University)
Before teaching English full-time, I spent 18 years working in environmental education, training youth and adults around the world. This experience strengthened my ability to explain concepts clearly and connect with learners from diverse cultures.

Outside of teaching, I enjoy music, reading, cooking, art, travel, and staying curious about the world. I’ve visited 13 countries, and I bring that same sense of exploration into my lessons.

My lessons & teaching style
I hold a 300-hour TEFL Diploma from the i-to-i Institute of Language, a Bachelor of Social Science degree, and a Teaching Diploma in Environmental Education. Over the past six years, I’ve taught English online to learners from around the world, and I also spent a year teaching in Taiwan. These experiences gave me a strong international perspective and a clear understanding of how to support students with different levels, learning styles, and goals.

I believe students learn best when lessons are engaging, relevant, and tailored to their personal objectives. My classes are designed to build confidence in all four core language skills — reading, writing, listening, and speaking — while keeping learning enjoyable and meaningful. Every lesson aims to help you express yourself more clearly and use English comfortably in real situations.

🌍 Business English
Business English lessons focus on professional communication and useful workplace language. You’ll practise expressing ideas clearly in meetings, presentations, emails, and everyday office situations. Materials and topics are chosen to match your industry and responsibilities so you can use your new skills immediately.
🧒 Children’s English (Ages 4+)
Lessons for young learners are fun, interactive, and full of variety.
Younger children follow Oxford University’s Discover series, which introduces English through stories, games, and creative activities that spark curiosity.
Older children use Oxford’s Future series, supporting independence and confidence while continuing to build a strong language foundation.
🗣️ Adult English & General English
Adult classes are shaped around your interests and goals — whether you want to improve daily communication, prepare for travel, or feel more confident in professional situations.
General English lessons develop vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and fluency through practical, engaging activities. We work across all key skills to help you communicate with clarity and ease.
💬 Conversational English
Conversation lessons offer a relaxed space to practise speaking about a wide range of topics. These sessions help build natural, confident communication and encourage you to use English comfortably in everyday life.
